NCPL Warbird Race....
Maybe you guys from the NCPL can help me out. I'm looking for any rules/regs that apply to the July? warbird race. I have a line on an old 60 size P-51... Just wondering what I need I guess Thanks

RE: NCPL Warbird Race....
At the moment our website is down. In the past it has been a typical pylon race using a "warbird" type models. No real size limit. No Nelsons though. I think your .60 size would be fine. I know I plan on using a WM 40 sized P-51 with a MDS .78 on it. Cause theres no replacement for displacement. I'll try to follow up when I know more. Always a good time, that I can guarantee

Well, that being the case maybe I'll look for a 40 size and throw on a 50 FSR instead..... Maybe a cut down 12x8 prop and some light radio gear........ My wife is going to love this
On the other hand I also know where there is an old 25 size P-38.... Throw on a couple of 40's and let her buck....

RE: NCPL Warbird Race....
Unfortunately, there has not been any real hard and fast rules on this class. It started with the old Wing At-6 planes, but most everyone crashed them up pretty early (They love to snap on takeoff if your not carefull). Then the class kinda went with the World Models P-51s, but the past couple of years this thing has kinda opened up into anything goes. They don't allow the Racing Engines, but for some reasong a Sport Jett is ok.
The fastest plane last year was the WM P-51 with Jett .76, but a WM P51 with O.S. .91FX was nearly as fast.
I've been trying to keep up with a Kyosho Spit, and a Jett .50, but it doesn't have the speed of the planes above. I do have a Jett .90 in the box, but not sure the Spit can take it...
I hope some "firmer" rules get put in place, or the participation will go down at this race eventually as a few planes start to dominate like last year. The people who showed up with WM P-51's with O.S. .46fx engines were getting lapped very quickly, you could tell some of them weren't having that much fun.

Sounds like that should be a discussion at one of the club meetings this year. I suppose many people already have something ready to go and won't like having to change it. Maybe a set engine like the Q-500 would help, maybe the same engine. Everone already has one anyway, just throw it on.
