RE: Post pictures of your RACERS!
My latest... a Bird of Prey from the "new" kit from Lyle. This one has a lighter wing and uses laminated balsa in the nose. This is the lightest composite Q500 I have ever built. The all up weight is 3 lb 9.8 oz. (see picture) with the cg set at 3" back. It could even be lighter since I did a full blown paint job with clear and it uses a 3002 for ailerons. I will fly it tomorrow.

I sure got to hand it to you California boys. You guys rock when it comes to beautiful paint jobs. I hope a little of what you guys have rubbed off on me. Lived there for four years. Rock on Samcfe.

Hi Zen 40
Nice plane. Did you race the other week ? When are you guys going to start racing Q500, like us up here in the north. That 9x8 prop may be a bit heavy on that whimpy FAI fuel.

Another beauty Scott, the Polecat is gorgeous as well. I think I have something cool and you blow it out of the water, twice. Thanks...
Slightly off subject but if anyone is looking for a good polishing compound try Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Diamond Cut Compound 2.0. Lyle told me about this product and it really works. No need for a whole shelf full of different cutting polishes. I had trouble finding it locally but if you order from Summit Racing, they send you a free hat...

Don't forget the race glaze afterwards... [8D]

A.J.
Thanks, but your stuff IS really cool. And I cannot imagine masking and painting three planes in a weekend with as complex a scheme as yours. I would no doubt tape myself to the wall!! I really think that pylon racers are beautiful machines and really enjoy seeing them, even those with simple schemes. It is a great way to get ideas for the next plane. That's why I like this thread.
This whole building thing is kind of new to me since I can no loner bribe my brother to do it for me, and I am enjoying exploring what can be done. Also, being an old retired guy, I have way too much time on my hands. Although if I keep losing planes at the pace I am, I can guarantee you that my planes will sport much simpler paint jobs!

The NEW A.J.2 looks great Kevin. I know you put alot of work into the reshaping to bring it up to date of the current rules and profile area. Fantastic job.
Of course I am partial to "T-Tails"

This is what I will be flying on fathers day. She took me 8 years to build. Has G-62 with 10x22 prop. on board smoke pump. Robart retracts, I.m going to install mini cam with down link. Its scratch built from Ziroli plans. You got to love a Texas playboy.
