Default Throttle servo

Just curios, what are the JR guys using on their throttles for both Q500 and Q40? I checked the servo specs, and it looks like there are a few candidates, but not sure what your using.

Is it the:

JR 321
JR 331
or
JR 341

From the specs and price, the 331 looks like the best deal, but I'm not sure.

I'm leaning toward the futaba 3102, but looking at all options.

Thanks.

Hi Dave,
I am not a JR Team flier or anything, but I have been using 331 servos on throttle on the F-1's I have been sprot flying with Jett 50 and it works out great. Never a failure. I use 3121 on the other surfaces.

Yep, I like the 3121 also for other surface, just looking for a lighter throttle servo that will hold up.

If you like the 3121, you may want to look at the Expert SL451. Its the same case, same gear set, and I honestly can't tell them apart. Check Horizon Hobbies, they are about $24 each.

Dave,

I use the 341 on all my stuff, Q500, Q40 and FAI. I have some of the 331's, they would work... I just haven't used them. They seem pretty slow (not that it matters on throttle) and it just didn't seem like something I wanted in my racer.

Dave I use 321, why? Because I have 14 of them. They work great.

I have a standard 517 servo on the throttle in my quickie. Used to have a micro servo, but it failed in flight so definitly not using those anymore.

For what its worth, have been flying the JR 341 on all surfaces for years. A great servo.
Small, lightweight, reliable. Have tried others, with mixed results.

I.E. JR 331/Expert SL 300 (same servo) will fry on 5 cell(6.0v) but use them on 4 cell,
you will be OK. (Difference betweem them & JR 341 is 3 pole vs 5 pole motor)

JR 3121/Expert SL 421 (same servo) Larger. heaver, weak gear train. Do not use as single servo on ailerons. For that matter, dont use JR 341 or 331 as single aileron servo.

Have been using Airtronics 94141MG mini or Hitec 225 MG mini as single aileron, with
good results. Bryant

Lefty,

thanks for the info on the comparable Expert Servo to JR for the 331.

I think you have the wrong number for the comparable JR 3121, shouldn't it be the Expert SL 451?

I've been using these with great success.

I just checked the specs on the Expert SL300 and I am impressed:

42 oz torque
.21 speed (Perfect for throttle)
.63 oz weight

All for $19.99 at Horizon.

Tough to beat, I can't see spending more on a Hitec 85 that only has 2 screws holding it down. This expert servo has 4 screws and looks great.

Thanks again,

The hitec 85 is a little heavier, a little faster (big deal on throttle), the same torque, and more money.

Doesn't make sense to me.

I wonder if they changed the specs for the SL300 servo. Horizon says that they are 30oz of torque and .21 seconds transit time. I just purchased two Sl300 from my LHS and they are about 45 oz or torque and .29 sec transit time. Did they regear these servos? Mine are really show, but they will do for flap servos in my glider. The weight, dimension, and voltage specs are unchanged.
