Your's Versus Pete Reed's
Hi
Just wondering on the pricing?
Are these gear stronger, lighter or better in some way than the Carbon Fiber gear Pete Reeds sells for $15 plus $2 shipping?
He has a regular and a swept version..??
PLease educate me on the cost difference as I used Pete's and work great .??
Thanks

Gear VS Gear
Hello,
First, let me say, Pete is a good friend of mine and I would do nothing to put down anything he does. He has given more to the sport of pylon than most people realize. Since you have one of Pete's gear already, I will just tell you what mine are and you draw your own conclusion.
1) The ARC configuration is the strongest per weight of any design. My gear are 40% lighter than the same gear in T-4 aluminum. My gear weigh in at 28 grams.
2) The ARC is a lower drag configuration than standard gear at the fuselage and wheels.
3) My gear are 3" tall to the axle centerline. You are FAR LESS likely to get a prop strike on the pavement and they give you proper clearance height for grass field.
4) Landing gear of any type with small radius bends have stress raisers at that point and the material fatigues with age. The ARC will not do that.
5) My gear are 95% finished in appearance when you get them.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions. As far as a swept back gear, they will be out in about a month, the same time when I bringing out the QM40 422 gear.
Thanks for the questions,
Lewis

Gear Passed with flying colors
Het Lewis,
My hat is off to you. I was flying my Predator today and had a wing failure, that's another story. Anyway the plane went into the woods wide open and hit a tree head on. Hard enough that is broke the crankcase on my old Nelson. Other than a scuff on the gear, they are fine. I know they hit the tree too, because one Streamline wheel was broken.
Anyway, just thought you might like to know they are just as tough as you said they are. By the way, I payed sho and tell with them at the field and I think you will be getting some orders.
Two thumbs up!!

Nice gear. Would they work on a sport plane? What would be the max weight for the gear. Once again, really sharp lookin' gear. I've always liked the look of CFC.

Sport planes and gear
Hello,
Well actually I did fly the gear for about 6 months on a fun fly plane i designed to beat the heck out them and try to break them. That weighed 4 lbs 4 ounces. The gear held up just fine there. Here are two dimensioned pictures of the gear.
