New Seeker Project
About this time of year I like to try something a little different to get through the winter. This year is no different. About 3 years ago Gino and Travis were messing around with a Mini Rev in Phoenix with a small motor on the nose. I thought that was dang cool at the time, and have since decided to work on a "mini" Seeker.
From all appearances, looks like a standard Seeker kit

RE: New Seeker Project
Yes, it is a Nelson .15, which actually looks quite big on the firewall.
If I can get this to balance, it should be fun. Its basically a 75% scale version of the Seeker. Wing will have a chord of roughly 7" and a 36" span.
Looks to be light, I just hope I can offset the weight of that powerhouse!
I see some areas run a Q200, this might be a good addition to that class, I do intend to sell kits once I get the design finalized.

RE: New Seeker Project
That is a very COOL looking engine.
The fuse kit is very nice, just a small version of the Seeker. Only issues I see at this point are the CG, getting the v-Tail linkage enclosed, and finding a fuel tank. The 4oz tetra is far to big, not aware of a smaller bladder tank without fabricating my own.
Also, I am using a different airfoil on this, something proven, but new to me. Hopefully I want use too much pressure when I bag my next one

Dave,
Did you see my post #9 just before the picture of the engine?
SL300 : four screws, almost the same torque and $19.99....
Claude.

This smalll engine Nelson N15 and Fora 15 like to run with high pressure fuel.
I suggest you use for fuel tank a fuel bladder "high" pressure tank".

RE: New Seeker Project
Claude, the project, and most of my flying is pretty much on hold right now.
The corporation I worked for was purchased by another and "IF" I had kept my job, I would have been forced to relocate to Chicago. Not that I don't like Chicago, but the cost of living is quite high there. I accepted a job at another company, and will be moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin next week. I am currently in the process of packing up my workshop, and house in anticipation of the move.
It will most likely be fall or winter before I have much of a chance to start back at this project or others. Hopefully, others will share their current projects in my abscense.

RE: New Seeker Project
Bob, you are exactly right. Its exactly 350 miles from my house, to my new job. The new job is very exciting and looks to be very positive for me. Unfortunately, packing up the "shop" will be a nightmare. I really want to make the Florida race in April, and hopefully the Nats, but I can't commit to either untill things smooth out. I still can't believe this is actually happening.
Untill then, I will be flying my new toy, I just love its color scheme!!!

I am sorry for this job problem you have.
Hope you will have more free time than you think at this moment.
Good luck with your new job and your move.

RE: New Seeker Project
Its been nearly two years, but I broke the old "mini" project out of the box a few days ago.
Squeezed two HItec 85's on the servo tray for elevators and barely was able to get a JR 341 between them for throttle cut off. Mounted the switch and battery, and started sanding on the tail...
Glad to be back in the old workshop, gainfully employed, and working on new projects.
Pics to come once the batteries are charged...

RE: New Seeker Project
Here are a couple pics.
Things will be tight, and the battery will be buried under the fuse top after it is glued on, but I'm worried about it being nose heavy.
