Default fuel filter - used or not

Hi

I have SC 40 with my Viper Q500. Just came up to question is fuel filter used with pylon planes or does it interfere the fuel flow with full throttle? Just noticed I have some dirt in my fueltank eventhough I have filter in the gallon tank of fuel

I use an inline filter on all my racers. As long as it's not clogged, it won't effect fuel feed. If it gets clogged, consider that it saved all that dirt from going through your engine. Here's the filter I use, along with instructions for it, and a picture of it installed on a Q40. As the instructions say, you should backflush the filter after every day of flying to keep it clear.

Thanks. You hardly ever see those filters on any q500 racer pics. Made me woder why, cause not using it, I would just cause problems.

I use Shadel's filter on everything... FAI, Quickee and Quarter40. Never in my life have I had a clogged spray bar...never. I unscrew the 2 halves, drop a little red loctite in there.. close it back up.

Hi!
I never use a fuel filter in between the tank and the engine... That's just one more thing that could go wrong (leak).
Best way is to filter the fuel Before you fill the tank. Use a good auto fuel filter, not the cheap hobby stuff screen filters that's every hobby shop sells. There are small motorcycle gas filters avaiable at some motocycle shops (Lelles MC in Uppsala in Sweden) that are far better than every filter that are available in hobby shops.

But do use a Tettra "bubble less" tank if you want the best tanks. These are used world wide by all pylon racers. I have them available if you are interested

Same here, The fewer connections in the fuel feed line the less chance of problems.

Like Randy, but with Loctite blue. I prefer to fly in blue sky than red sky!!!!
