Default TT Pro40 Muffler?

I was practicing this weekend and I lost the back half of my TT Muffler. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get just the back half, or am I going to have to pay $$$ for the entire muffler? Our next race is coming up, and I don't want to be stuck on the sidelines watching everyone else having fun.

short of knowing someone that's worn out an engine or crash damaged one, I don't know how to get just the back half.

I hear the screw going through the middle of the muffler to hold them together is prone to breakage - search the forums and you'll find lots of info on that. I put a 6-32 all threaded rod through mine, with two nuts at each end, and haven't had it separate yet.

See Ed Smith's suggestion - post #6 2-56 screws also work well...

I use 4-40 all thread and double nut it.
I have also used the OS muffler bolt as it is much thicker and then I use the good ole thread lock and do NOT over tighten. I have 6 or more races with 3 heats each at 10 laps a heat and still got it.

Back in the day when I flew 424 I used a TT Pro 60 or a Magnum 60 muffler bolt and never had any issues after installing it.

As for getting the back half and the baffle,,, good luck[&o]

Best to deal with Thunder Tiger directly for a new muffler.

Hey Fizzwater2, Let me know when those races in KC are or any other race in your area for that matter.. I'm just getting started in 424 , got a bunch of planes, and will travel wherever guys are racing. Live in Florida, drove to Connecticut to race, then to Maryland the following weekend. Georgia on July 26th. Texas in August. Indy Shootout in at the end of Sept...etc etc...
I'd love to come up there and mix it up with ya'll.

Phil - I'll see if I can get in touch with the KCRC guys and get their schedule, and check with our club (the Barnstormers) CD and see what he's got scheduled.

At the KCRC race this spring, we had 25 entries. Two weeks later at our race, we had 21 entries, and we raced on a crummy day (rain, cold) and still had fun!

Don't be afraid to remind me if you don't hear anything from me - I have a tendency to get sidetracked..

Fizz,

I'm hoping to make it up to AJ's race in August. I've had 2 Hurrikanes on order for a couple months now and am still waiting on wings for 'em... I've got an old NemeQ that I just picked up, but I need to find a v-tail for it. If I can get any of them going, I'll be there!

Tim - we're thinking of doing 424 one day at our race (Barnstormers) and 428 the next day, if we can scare up enough course workers. Watch the forums for announcements when it gets closer to the race.

I'll also be doing my darndest to be at AJ's race, he runs a good one!

Yo Fizz, I'd appreciate any info you can get on any 424 race....Thanks a bazillion....I'll bug ya about it later.....

Hey skull, the race I'm talking about is in Seguin Texas. I made a note of it in my little racing book. It's a 424 race but I'm not sure what kind. Memory fails on occasion. That's why I write em down... It mifght be 1 400 foot 2 pole withn the pilots of course. I'll check my book in the a.m......

Also, Skull, if you here of any races, anywhere, anytime, let me know will ya?

Thanks,

Ready turn Ready turn.....See ya in the pits.....LOL

Phil I think that might be the Kingsbury race in Sept. You'll have to ask Gunfighter about it, he's the CD. 424 2 pole.

We have several Club 40 races coming up too. Austin 7-12, New waverly 8-2, and I think San Antonio 8-9. Club 40 seems to be real active in Texas.

Rumor, also has it of a Dist 8 race in Sept. at Texas City. (424, 428, 422) But you'll have to ask Dennis.

Hey thanks Skull.

I'm really interested in that 424/428/422 race in Sept at Texas City.. Keep me informed will ya?

So I guess I'm gonna have to buy a Skyraider and fly Club 40. They use Thunder Tiger Pro 40's right.?.. Got plenty of them....!Anything to race.

You talking about Dennis O'Brien right....?

Heck , I'm also gonna buy a couple OS.25 engines and compete in the quickie 25 events too. They say it's the same plane as 424...

Racing is racing.....I'm ready for just about anything....

I also happened across somebody saying that Roger's Hobbies had a couple Lanier Predators for sale. Surprising since they don't make em anymore.

So I called em..Yup they had 1 left , so I bought it.....

Keep in touch dawg...Find me some more races.......

If I get my Hurrikanes done I'll race 424 too!! I just got hold of Tony Paccini who's making the original NemeQ, so it looks like I'll have a tail! I'd like to travel with more than one plane though.... I'd hate to have it be a real short weekend if something happens to my primary.

Let me know the sked, and I'll darn sure try to be there.

Phil,
I see you are here in Florida, will you be going to Markhum Park in September and Mulberry in October for the 424 races? The September race is 424 & 428, the October race is 422, 424 & 428.

We would love to have you!

Hey Scott, Yup I'm in Florida and you can bet I'll be racing in Mulberry. I was there last year and that's what got me hooked...I'm all ate up with it now....Obsessed even...

And I actually raced in Markham Park. My first race. Dang I was terrible....But I got up against the kid from Guatemala and he beat me by less than 10 feet. I thrive on competition...

I saw you guys in Mulberry, taking all the wood!!! I'll be ready for ya Scott.....

Yo Scott, Good job CD'n by the way...The race went very well. BUT, more rounds of racing for the 424 guys.....LOL

I figured out how to get that extra 10 feet. The stick on the right? - if ya pull it all the way down, the plane turns tighter.....Gee, who knew......LOL

Let me know of ANY and ALL 424 races that you know of or hear about. Even quickie 25 races. Distance doesn't matter.....

Are ya gonna be at Mac's race on July 26th? I think Dick Zisa is going with me....
