Default OS 46 AX Remote Needle Mounting?

Just acquired a new Q500 and have an OS 46 AX to go on the front of it... The motor has a remote needle on a small metal bracket that bolts onto the backplate...
However this has to be removed in order to mount the engine onto the Q500 Backplate Mount...

I've been trying to work out how to mount the remote needle again but where to put it is driving me crazy!?!?!?

Any ideas on how to do this? Thought someone else may have had the same problem?

I have a couple of old Carbs from my old OS 46 FX's I have lying around... I wonder if they will fit the AX? That might solve my problem...

i have a viper fitted with the same engine [ o.s. 46 ax ] what i did was i used a small section of 1/8 th inch aluminium angle approx 10mm wide L shaped, i bolted this to the front side of the fuselage just behind the engine bulkhead on the cylinder head side . the needle valve adjust end faces up. if you need a pic i can post up one. by the way would you know if the pylon racing was on at the sunshine coast last weekend ?

Thanks for the info freeair... As always a picture is the best so if you can post one that would be great...

Yes there was racing at Coolum on the Sunshine coast... I raced F3D on Sunday and took out 1st place!... My second ever! lol
I was flying my SV1 that is available from BigBruceRacing...
Chris & Kev Callows were there but Chris did not race due to a rod letting go in his MB...
Bruce deChastel has the same problem which freed him up to call for me... Bruce is great and he helped me alot towards my win...

We have another event in Grafton coming up in November...

Here's my new Sling Shot...

Hi!
You can mount it anywhere on the fuselage.

Here is another option
Keeps the needle out of the way and safe in a spill
Made with 1.5mm angle alluminium, also dont need to keep the motor so rich for the start compared to a high mounted needle.

Thanks Dave
I originally tried to bend the OS bracket which snapped and then I tried to silver solder it and it melted.
I thought the original one was just punched steel but I think it was a diecast alloy of some description

AusPylon, saves me posting some pics of my needle valve set up as Terryoc has shown a close style to my method. your new Slingshot looks nice , did you buy it in aus ? also congratulations on your win in the F3D class, both chris and bruce are a very hard pair of racers to beat when all is well as you know. i am looking out for a used Q-40 airframe only if you know of anyone let me know.

Yep no worries freeair...

Yes Chris and Bruce are sure hard to beat... Was my luck that they both did not race... Bruce did call for me though... Which I am grateful for as I learned alot in that short time...

The slingshot is done by Bruce & Terry... Bruce only lives 1 hour from me which is handy when I need bits and pieces for my racing habbit...
