Nelson q500 throttle linkage
Would someone mind posting a picture of how they have the "throttle" linkage on their q500. Specifically the throttle arm, I am having trouble getting the linkage setup. With a balljoint on the arm it crams up against the fuel nipple and wont close the barrel completely, if that makes any sense.

RE: Nelson q500 throttle linkage
Thanks for the reply, here a couple pictures. Will the thing shut down with that much of the barrel open? Sorry for the green horn questions. I would just try to run it but I dont want to have to pull everything apart if I cant get it to shut down.
Thanks

The smaller white plastic ball links work better. That one is pretty big. I still think it would shut off how you have it though. I like to get it to shut completely in case you know you are going to crash, you can keep the mud out of the motors.

Like Dave said, most of us use the regular white ball links. What you have should be enough to shut it off, but I'd still grind a bit of that ball link off to give a little more throw. Closing it completely isn't just easier to keep dirt out during crashes, it also helps if you roll off the runway into dirt on landing or something.

I've used the top needle on some planes, works pretty good. My only issue is you need to add a break in your fuel line for fueling. Its very tough to get the fuel line off and off the brass fitting, its a rather tight fit.

Randy, where have they broken? I've been running them exclusively since they came out, and have had zero issues. However I have seen one pull the fuel line fitting out as it's a press fit. I can see where if you're constantly pulling on it to refuel that it may be pulled loose over time. I don't remove the fuel line at the needle, I use a filter and pull the line at the filter for fueling. Attached is a pic of my Proud Bird installation, but it's similar to what I do on my Q500's.
Periodic defects are going to happen, I actually had one of the standard needle assemblies break at the end of the threads for the nut that holds it in place about 15 years ago.
