Tape the mount to the firewall and drill the holes for the screws and blind nuts.

My motor mount is rotated from the 90 degree reference.

Trace the blocks on the wing and grind out the area as needed to fit.

You have to go a little deeper than you think to allow for the glue.

Glue the blocks in place using a mixture of slow dry epoxy and micro balloons.

Put some waxed paper over the blocks and tape the landing gear in it's appropriate location. The purpose is to insure that the landing gear blocks are glued in straight.

I chose to use balsa block wing tips on my model.

Glue on the blocks with epoxy glue.

Shape the tips with a sharp knife and sandpaper until you have 2 uniform shaped tips.

The fiberglass and epoxy was added on the top center section of the wing.

1) Cut 3 pieces of 2 ounce fiberglass cloth. The widths are 3", 6", and wide enough to cover the landing gear.
2) Mix about 0.75 ounces of epoxy.
3) Apply a layer of glue then apply cloth. Do until all 3 layers are applied. Use a plastic squeegee to spread out the glue.
4) Put a piece of plastic wrap over the cloth.

just one mention regarding the glueing of the alloy landing gear into wing sections. rough up both sides of these surfaces with corse sandpaper so the glue sticks , especially to the foam to alloy side. what i also do when fitting these alloy landing gear struts is drill 1/4 inch holes [ about 6 of ] so the glue squeazes out abit from the underside [ foam part ] filling these holes to form a greater bond.

The earlier pictures of the landing gear being taped on were confusing. The gear is just taped on to insure the blocks are glued in straight.

The gear will later be attached using nylon bolts going through the aluminum gear and into the 1/4" plywood landing gear block. The block will later be drilled and tapped to accept nylon bolts.

Trim off the extra fiberglass by using a sanding block on the edge. Sand it a little and remove the extra.

Attach the 1/4" wide pieces of balsa to the edges.

Hold the parts in place with pins and masking tape until dry.

Shape the ailerons with a sharp knife.

Later use a razor plane and sanding block to finish the shaping.

Install temporary hinges made from pieces of plastic milk carton.

Attach the ailerons and mark them for removal of approximately 1/16" to 3/32" from the top and bottom of the leading edge. Remove the ailerons and sand this off with a sanding block.

This will allow approximately 1/4" to 3/8" throw each way.

I just cut pieces of plastic milk carton to the shape of CA hinges.

The wood is slotted to fit the temporary hinges.

The glass and primer are applied while temporary hinges are in service.

Later the temporary hinges are removed and CA hinges are installed it their place.
