Better late than never - RC Barnstormers Spring Race
I guess I haven't done a very good job of helping Carl promote this race:
there's still time to pre-register, get signed up and come play 424 with us! AJ Seaholm had 20 fliers brave the crappy weather forecast last weekend for the KCRC race, the first in this area for the season. It would be great if the same 20, plus a few more, could come to the Hillsdale lake field and race on May 9th with us!
Take a look at the attached flier, and feel free to post or e-mail if you have any questions!
Let's go racing!

don't forget to go to http://www.rcbarnstormers.org/racing.html then click "sign up" and pre-register if you're planning on coming to the race on May 9th.
Should be fun, looks like the Wichita guys are signed up already, along with a few of the local guys from our own club, and some from KCRC. The more the merrier, c'mon out and race with us!

Weather is looking great for this weekend, mostly sunny and mid 70's. Should be a great day for racing.
Eddie Jump should have a target on him now. See ya saturday.

What? No trash talking for this race? Is everyone busy building something faster to try to keep up with an old recycled chrome Dogger?

If they're anything like me, they're scratching their heads wondering what to do for airplanes.
Guess I was one of the few that used one up at the race in KC, so I have nowhere to go but up from there!
Eddie, even though you can't see 'em, I'll bet there's targets on that chrome wing...
AJ, Scott, - you guys going to come race? Don't forget you can preregister on the www.rcbarnstormers.org webstite!

17 now.. just another bump to keep this alive for a couple more days.
Still haven't heard much out of a few certain Missouri guys.. and nothing from the guys in Nebraska yet, either.
C'mon out and play, should be a good time for all

Scott won't make it.
I'll be arriving late afternoon for MO moral support. I have a conflict with a basketball tournament that I've blown off to many times in the past.
I know a couple less computer inclined MO guys planning to go. Should be a 20+ race, let er rip...

AJ, sorry to see you won't be there till later, have fun! Sorry to hear Scott won't make it either, but keep the fall race in your plans, eh?
The weather forecast looks good, 70's and sunshine, with only a 20% chance of rain.
Was out flying my predator last night to limber up the thumbs a little more, wouldn't hold a decent needle setting. Went home, went through the engine and found no leaks, etc, so I pulled the tank - found the chea pass tank that came with the ARF was leaking around the neck, figure the fuel pressure was changing as the fuel sloshed around, so pulled that one out and put in a 4 oz bladder type. Got my fingers crossed that takes care of the inconsistent needle!

OK, it's the night before race day. Still not much smack talk for this one, are we all getting old and boring?
I personally plan on doing better than I did a couple of weeks ago, after all, I flew THREE whole practice flights yesterday! That's three more than I had flown before the last race in KC!
We have 17 pre-registered, let's see if we can hit twenty before the night is over. If you're coming tomorrow, drop by www.rcbarnstormers.org click on interests, then racing, and sign up!
Looking forward to a good turnout, should be a decent day weather wise.
PS - Eddie, I'll bring my sunglasses so that chrome wing doesn't distract me....

Well I know 6 more coming with me that are not pre-registered. So I am guessing 25 plus.
And as for you, Eddie Jump. I didn't have a great weekend 2 weeks ago either, and I don't think we ever raced head to head. My only worry for tomorrow is that when I blow by you, that chrome thing you fly doesn't flash me as I turn inside and leave you in the dust.
See you all in the morning-Lets go racing boys!!!

Like we overheard at the races yesterday...
"some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug"
Several folks had a bug sort of day yesterday.. good thing there's three weeks till the race in Wichita, time to get some planes squared away!
Thanks to everyone that came to our race, we had a decent turnout (19), several good races, several near misses, and quite a few non-misses - the racing was close, and there was much suffering of midairs because of it.
Thanks to Carl for all his efforts to hold this race, and to all of the Barnstormers who came out and worked so we could play.
I'm hoping someone has some pictures to post. Time to start firing things up for Wichita on the 30th!

Thanks to Carl and all the Barnstormers for their work. The race was great as usual. Hillsdale is a great flying site. A special thanks to all the workers. I'm not sure why, but there sure was lots of carnage. I think as a group we managed to crash a plane about every way possible. We better all get building.

Yes, a day of carnage it was. Looks like there will be some building in the next few weeks before Wichita.
The race was in the bag for Mike Tallman until bad air in heat number six took him out going around pylon #3. That left a fly-off between Gordon McWilliams and Mo Vereecke, with Mo taking the fly-off and the win. Gordon McWilliams finished in second with Mike Tallman taking third and fast time of 1:23.47.
Here are the complete results.
