Default Composite Tails and Molds for Sale

Over the next few days I will be listing several composite tails that are perfect for Quickie 500 planes. All will be available for $75 plus shipping. I can ship 2 in one box. I double box them so that they don’t get damaged.

The first tail is the Swee Pea tail. Although I did it for the Q-40 Swee’ Pea, I also planned to use it on Quickies. It is a “slab stab”. The plug was made from 1/4” balsa and is shaped so that it has a rounded leading edge and a sharp trailing edge.

This tail is easy to line up because it does have flat surfaces that can be used for lining up the incidence.

Dave Norman has been using one of these tails on a Seeker. The one I sent him had weak hinges, but I have corrected that and these are up to 428 (and 422).

This tail will work fine on the Seeker, the HurriKane, the Venom, and others.

Here are pictures of the tail out of the mold and after trimming.

If you want to make your own tails, sets of molds for this tail are $500 and the lead time is 3 weeks.

Would anyone like for me to do a HurriKane / Venom shaped tail?

Default RE: Composite Tails and Molds for Sale

This is the Smasher composite tail. While it was designed for the Smasher, it can be used on any Quickie with a stab saddle set at 0 degrees that is 5" long and is 1" wide at the front and 0.8" wide at the rear. The thickness of the middle of the tail is 0.275" because I forgot to allow for the cloth overhang when I made the plug. I sand the front and rear down to 0.250" to fair into the Smasher fuselage.

It is incredibly easy to build a wood fuselage to use this tail and get perfect alignment and incidence.

I will also be making a new tail that uses the same mounting pattern that is airfoiled and has less area. So you can use this tail now, and use the new tail when it comes out.

The price of the tail is $75. I can ship 2 in one box.

I have male molds and can make more females. A set of molds is $500 and the lead time is 3 weeks.
