RE: Merlin 2016 GloBee Style Plugs
as Jaka says- use a colder plug than the OS 8 and you will get more performance once you get everything working in your favour. The previous email is also correct in saying that you penalise bottomend performance- thats why we wind the bottom end needle out......we dont need the idle. The Merlin plug has increased compression by filling the inner glowplug hole with compound. The TT is an undercomped engine and thats why I believe they are working better in the TT than the OS. regards trevoer h

Hi!
Sorry! ...I was to fast there...I ment using a colder plug will make the ignition point happen later...more closer to the top dead center.
That way you get more power as long as everything else is Ok (and that's the tough bit)!

the flat wound style of plug raises actual compression, and the design allows the element to be supported , in away that allows the element to survive, the higher pressures and rpms, hav you ever used a glow driver with a real meter on it, these plugs draw alot more amps as well, i used this type of plugs in my 3.5 outboard engines for years, running 50-65 percent nitro with excellent results and lifespan as well.

Terry,
The GloBee style of plug has a flat bottom with a flat wound coil, like a watchspring, at its base instead of the plug having a hollow core in the bottom with a cylinder shaped coil in it.

Time to bring this one back to the top!
Gary, what are you using now? I should have checked mine Sunday, it's been in there a while, and it is an OS #8 Maybe I'm leaving some RPM behind? Plus I have very old 10% fuel, I just don't get out to fly enough to burn it up, use about 9oz a month racing, not much practice or sport flying. I figure I need about 400 more RPM to be competitive... Well, for a few planes anyway, that won't catch you! See you next month?
