SPRA Qickie 25 race on Jan 30 in NC
To all racers in the southeast.
The Caldwell Aeromodelers invite you to come race Quickie 25 with us on Jan 30 at our field in Hudson, NC. We had a nice turnout last year in spite of the chilly temps. Even if you don't have a plane to race come see the action.
This will be the first race of the season for the Southern Pylon Racing Association.

This is a Q-500 plane. When OS makes the engine they call it a 25FX. In the US it translates into K&B 45 RIRE so I can run it right???

Alright,
Jokes aside I'm looking at some serious bad weather this weekend. Seeing as how it is January and the guys coming out to race are pretty determined to race even in cold weather. The reports for Saturday are all leaning to snow and wintery mix so, I'm thinking about making this a rain or shine event.
We have had some really great racing opportunities called off because of the weather and because guys were thinking about not making the drive just to turn around and come back because of rain this year and I thought it might be something to talk about if we just go ahead with it regardless of how bad it gets. If I make this an iron man race where we race no matter what are you guys still up for it??
If it snows too deep we can hand launch.

Hey, lets see how the weather plays out. Its about 3-1/2 to 4 hr one way for me. I may can make up some skis for my BuckShots. Hmmmm... shall I make them out of 66012 or MH 17 airfoils??? I'm still in unless you start needing 4 wheel drive!!!

Looks like it'll be a great day to fly!! Low 20's, snow and 10-12mph winds. Here's a better wx site than The Wx Channel:

To those who were planning on coming to the Polar Pylon race, I have moved the date back a week to make sure we are all safe to race another day. I hope to see all of you on Feb 6.
To those who were worried about the weather...maybe by then you will get your man-cards back from whoever took them[>:]

The usairnet site listed above is the best I've found for RC aircraft. I've been using it for a couple of years to see if it's worth the drive to the field, and it is without a doubt the best thing going. Gives wind speed, direction, temps, humidity etc. And it's far better in accuracy than any of the TV weathermen. Defiantly worth a bookmark on your browser. We've got below 0, blowing snow, scattered light, and frozen toes up here, makes me want to be in Sunny Carolina for a week of sunbathing! Good to see yall doing some racing when all I can think about is warm enough to join in! One question Vic, does monocoat hold up better in hail and snow, or is paint preferred? Randy

I agree that the site is nice.
The weather here is snowing 10,000 hillbillies right now and more coming. You can't buy a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread with 100 miles.
Dunno about covering since normally the weather cancels all the fun. I'll let you know.

Wow, looks like you guys are going to get a good dump. 6-9 am tomorrow morning heavy snow. Its suppose to snow at least till noon tomorrow. get out the toboggan, sleds, and Xcountry skis.
Go outside vic, and teach your son how to write his name in the snow. That girls can't do it. Also make some snow angels and a snow man. But I don't think the snow will be wet enough for a good snowman.
Anyway enjoy!!!
