HS 5245 digital servos for pylon
Hello,
Has anyone tried the Hitec 5245 digital servo in 428 or 422 pylon. I am finishing up a Proud Bird II and a Vortex and I can not find JR 3121 servos I normally would used. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If it matters I am using a DX7 radio with the AR7000 rx
Thanks
Jorge

I have used them in both Q500 and Q40 on aileron and elevator. I Have them in a Polecat and a Foxy Lady and not had any problems with them. It appears to me that they like 6 volts better than 4.8. They are pretty fast on 6 Volts with plenty of torque.
I use the same AR7000 receiver.

I use them in 424 and 428. I like that they are programmable so that I can set the throws in the servo rather than the transmitter so that you don't loose resolution as you reduce the throw. ONE BAD THING about them is if you fully stall them at the limits of surface travel they are toast in a couple of seconds. They don't smoke they just blow a component. So be careful.

I agree get the controls as close as possible mechanically. With the tight fit in our racers often fine tuning is a large reduction in throw using dual rates. As I recall when I looked at these circuits a few years ago when throw is varied in the servo the servo pulse width stays the same and the degree movement is reduced. In the transmitter when throw is reduced through dual rate the pulse width is reduced. Because of the way the pulse is generated this will result in reduced resolution. Wether it's enough for us to really care about I don't know. Hitec did confirm this to me but I'm not sure he understood what I was talking about and could have given me the answer he thought I wanted to hear.
