Fall 424 race, Hillsdale, KS
Our (RC Barnstormers) fall Q500 race for 424 is this Saturday, August 14th, at our field at Hillsdale Lake, just a short distance south of Olathe, KS.
Registration at 9, we'll try to start races by 10. I'll try to get back here in a bit with some directions to the field, etc. Sorry about the late notice, I've been tied up at work and at home, trying to get my youngest son off to college! He leaves this weekend, so we've been pretty busy.
We typically have decent turnouts for this race, guys from KC, Wichita, our club, and sometimes even from Texas and Colorado!
Bring your 424 planes out, come race with us!
You can also contact me via RCU for more info, questions, etc.
Hope to see you there!
OH - and don't forget, there's always good grub at Beethoven's in Paola after the races.. Not sure if they'll have goulash, but I can ask..

Another shameless plug..
We have 12 pre-entries at this point, hope to see more.
AJ Seaholm from KCRC has said they'll bring over their new start/lap counter / cut indicator light system for the race, so we'll have first class equipment on hand! This system is nice, we've used it at a few of the local races in the area.
C'mon out and play!

The Judgeman batteries are charged and the system checked out great tonight.
Did a little repair job on the new RTC Viper that I got tangled up with Darwin Larson in Bloomington, should be ready to go.
Looking forward to the cooler temps, even if it's still low 90's, that's way better then it has been.
See everyone Sat.

14 pre-registered entries, hope to see some more! Sounds like it ought to be a decent turnout, in spite of the hot weather.
Bring plenty of water to drink, folks. Don't want anyone getting dehydrated just to fly model airplanes..
We ought to have some there with our concession stand, too.

updated weather forecast of this morning - Sunny, the chance of rain is down to 10%, but the temp forecast is up to 98. Typical Kansas August.
Let's go out and play in the hot sun!
If anyone reading this in the area is interested in what a pylon race might be like, and would like to work.. lap counters, turn judges, etc. We could use an extra couple of folks to help out, some of our regular club member helpers are on vacation..

We had a decent practice / trim session last night. Carl, the Rayne brothers, Art, myself. Art's new airplane looked to be flying well, and Pat's plane was going good! I didn't get there till late, so I only got in three flights, but they felt pretty good anyway. Hope to see a bunch of folks at the races!
Spectators are welcome, too - come and see what it's about!

No new smack talk between the flatlanders and the show-me guys?
We're now up to 17 on the pre-registration. Quite a few of the usual cast of characters, a few new ones, and a few from the past, showing up again. Should be a great race!

Thanks for the heads up. I think we'll crack 20 yet, in spite of the heat. Not a bad showing!
Not sure if Beethoven's will have goulash or not, but they will most likely have their most excellent stroganoff, that's on the menu all the time.. I haven't been there in a while to talk with them, ask about fixing the goulash for us. Still, it's good food..
Any of you racers that want to come along, there is usually a group that goes to a local German restaurant for some good grub after the racing. Paola's not that far away from the field.
I'm not 100% sure that I'll be able to go, we have guests in from out of town, and I might be expected to be at home to be social. We'll see..

Thanks to the Barnstormers crew for a great race! Great weather (ok a little hot, but that's life in Kansas in the summer) awesome racing, and great racer friends to spend the day with! Thanks again, Look forward to seeing everyone in Wichita on Sept 18 for the next race in the Mokan series.

Great race Barnstormers!
I'm still feeling the effects of the heat today, but starting to come out of it a little.
We had 24 registered pilots, which is great for a normal day, and exceptional for a mid-summer heat wave day.
There were a lot of close races and minimal carnage. Good times...

Thanks for coming, guys. Yes, it was warm, wasn't it?
I'll try to get some pictures posted here later on, after I get them from the camera guy..
We even had a couple of new faces (new old ones, a couple of "comeback" racers from years past..) which was a great thing to see! Jesse, Dana - welcome back!

Here are some pictures from the race last weekend:
24 entries, a pretty darned good turnout considering the hot weather!
First Place winner, AJ Seaholm from the KCRC club. AJ is also the current (and repeat!) Q40 Nationals champ, along with his caller Scott Causey
Eddie Jump from Wichita, 3rd place
Duane Hulen from KCRC, 2nd place and Fast Time - 1:21.79 on the short course

Sept. 18..... as far as sport jett class, we will start to preregister soon. and if we can get enough entries we will do it. I would say somewhere in the 6-10 participant range. i'll need to confirm with the guys.

Greetings, Venezuela!
AJ and Duane are both using Great Planes Vipers. I know that Duane's is glassed and painted, and at least AJ's fuselage is, not sure about his wing.
Eddie was flying a Lanier Predator II, don't think you can find those any more.
They both work well on the short course with the TTpro 40's. Probably not as good on the long course with the faster engines, but I can't say that for sure.
