Broke in and test flew my two 426 airplanes this weekend, and this motor is just sweet.

Hi Dave very nice, congratulation. What prop use? Few years ago in our city, Maracaibo, have racer only with ss 40 jett engines buy direct to mr d jett. Now we try to racing again in 426 class. And yes this is a very reliable engine. The first ss 40 engine in Maracaibo buying for Tico Finol in Houston run grerat and run today very well.

Actually broke in with a 9x6, just 3 tanks, flew 1,000 off peak with 8.8" x 8.5 for another 3 flights.

Those engines sure appear to needle nice.. When I was holding Dave's plane the tach seemed to follow the needle very smoothly.

nice! I haven't flown a q40 since the 2009 nats, should be interesting. Don't stand too close to #3 :)

Great to hear, I just bought two of them. Any chance you could post how you set up the remote and fuel shut off up? Also are you allowed to use a regular NVA instead of the remote?

Thanks
David

Personally, I like the remote needles. There is virtually no delay in needle settings and I just like the safety of being a little bit further behind the prop. Here is how I install mine. I hear there is one that is mounted through the rear muffler bolt now, but I haven't seen it.

I went with Barrrel carbs for another $30 versus the venturi / pinch off just for ease of use trading between this class and our local O.S. class.

If I was building the fuse myself, I would have glued the 1/8" ply to the inside of the nose instead of the outside. Just remember to fuel proof it, thin CA works fine or thinned epoxy, dope, etc..
