Nelson LS and SS throttle linkage location

I would like to know where you guys drill the firewall for the Nelson LS and SS throttle linkage to pass thru. For the TT Pro 40 (424 class) I drill a 9/64" hole at 5/8" right and 7/32" up from the bottom (looking at the firewall) so that I can change engines from plane to plane without having to re-drill anything. I would like to know if there is a standard spot you guys drill yours for 428. That way I can be set up correctly in case I need to swap engines, or loan out a plane in 428.

I guess the best way is if you guys could just let me know how you do it!!

Thanks,

Drill a 1/4 inch hole. That way it will work for either the TT, LS or SS and you will have enough clearance for the ball socket so you can remove or install an engine without messing with the throttle linkage. The accuracy of the location of the 1/4 inch hole is not real critical.

RE: Nelson LS and SS throttle linkage location

Thanks Denis, I have a Nelson SS but I couldn't remember if the hole drilled in the backplate mount was there when I got it or not! I think I will move my 424 mounts locations to the 5/8" Right and 1/4" up location, as well as enlarge the opening to 1/4" so I can interchange between all of them.

Thanks again!

Scott, I checked one of mine and it was 3/4" over and 1/4" up. I also use a bigger hole, not quite a 1/4", but close. I use the #1 drill bit in my numbered set. Its easiest to do with the backplate off the motor on a drill press.
