RE: FORA 40 q500
They won t compete with a Nelson or a Jett if you plan to Race 428 otherwise its a good sport plane engine:D

RE: FORA 40 q500
so this engine will not compete in any racing class?is it just made for sport?I have a jett ss 40 on a viper.I thought this would perform better.well it was only 140.00.so it will make a cool paper weight:D

RE: FORA 40 q500
There has been a couple of threads on this engine on this forum and the NMPRA forum. I never had one myself but a couple of guys that have tried them said they won't make it against Nelson, Jetts or Profis. As I recall the importer concluded that we pylon guys just don't know how to run engines.
20k on a 8.75/7.25 is not going to get anyones heart started either. It would be nice though for only $250 new Denis |
RE: FORA 40 q500
Its not a bad motor, at $140 you got a good deal, but like said before its not competitive with the Jett or Nelson Q500 motors available. I remember that Denis, I think it may have been on another site, but he did get quite upset with me :)

RE: FORA 40 q500
Even the Jett SS 40 will be faster. I know how to run engines as well as most people. I have the FORA 40 in my shop. It takes a fairly small prop to turn 20K on the ground. The Nelson and Jett will turn a 8.8X8.75 over 20K easily, you do the math.
