Any problem using Aviation 100LL fuel in Quadra engines? Does the higher octane pose a problem?

The real question is what benefit is there in using Av gas?

Answer- none.

It's not an aircraft engine and it's not operating in an aircraft environment. It's a chainsaw engine, an industrial engine which just happens to have an aircraft propeller stuck onto the output shaft if used in a model plane. No benefit to using Av gas in your chainsaw.

So why bother going to a more costly fuel for which it was not designed with no benefit? Unless you just happen to have some excess fresh Av gas lying around.

For me, 100LL doesn't stink and it stores very well. It does harden Tygon but wont touch black neoprene. Plus I get it for free! Avgas can be more difficult to get started when its very cold compared to fresh pump gas. Otherwise it runs fine and hasn't caused any problems beyond stiff fuel line.

Because I cannot stand the stench of pump gasoline, and it greatly affects my asthma. I asked if there was a problem using 100LL. I did not ask for a sales pitch on pump gasoline. Besides, the cost per flight is insignificant when compared to the overall investment made in large, "gasoline powered" airplanes!

As a follow-up on this thread, my newly acquired gasoline engines, both Quadra and Zenoah, all run great on 100LL aviation fuel and there is literally no smell. Even the exhaust has less of a smell than when using glow fuel.

I don't remember who suggested I try 100LL but thanks. I have now switched over to gasoline engines without any asthma issues.

I use 100LL in my DLE 20's with no problems .Our field is 4300 feet elevation . The exhaust is cleaner and doesn't stink and it gives my something to do with my sump drains
