Default Dual Starter Batteries

Can I run a 12volt starter off of two 12 volt batteries wired to give me 24 volts to start the larger gas engines considering the length of time the 12 volt starter would be turned on.

I know the Sullivan's will work but not sure about the brand "X" ones. MAX H.
