Default Triggering lights with DX6i for airplane?

Hello all! Been trying to figure this out, and can't for the life of me, and I'm wondering now if it's even possible.

Setup is this:

Airplane
Spektrum DX6i Tx
AR7000 Rx
MPI ACC256 Lighting system

Ok. Now the lights look really cool, but I'm wondering if there's a way to trigger them from the Tx so I can choose at any given moment to have them on or off. I saw a site where a guy explained how to use the Aux channel, but that was in heli mode, using pwr curve settings. Nothing like that in airplane mode that I know of. It seems wierd that its possible, because like most other light systems I've seen, there's no control wire, just power. Even the light system instructions say to just plug the pot module into an empty channel on the Rx.

My fix, I used a micro servo on channel 5 (gear) to trigger a micro switch to complete the circuit for the lights which are plugged into the flaps channel 6 (Aux 1 on the Rx). Works just fine, but too much wiring and connections for my taste. I have been told that this can be simplified to just use the aux channel to turn the lights on or off.

Anyone know how to program the DX6i to do this? I've been calling tech support for help, but no one ever answers the phone.

Thanks in advance for your help!
