Im frustrated with my G-26
Just as the tital says, Ive got this G-26 and ive just had the carb rebuilt, Ive got it back on the engine and when I try to start it with the idle down low it will at times just rev up and run just a second or so and then die, or it will pump a large amount of fuel and vapor lock and ill have to remove the plug and drain it. I cant get the needles right. Some insight on where the needles should be might help me out. Ive thought of pulling the engine off of the plane and mount it on a work table, but really dont want to if I can get it right the next time I try.

make sure you have the carb and the spacer mounted with the presure hole lined up and mounted to the block lined up with the hole in the block. It can work in only one position. It is very easy to put everything back together misaligned.

It does sound like a crack in the block, happens a lot when it is over torqued when being replaced. FYI, there is a gas engine forum as a sub forum in giant scale planes. Lot of good information in there on your Zin. Normal needle settings on it are about 1.5 turns out on both. I start out at 2 and work from there.

From closed it is about two turns opened then I fire up the engine and usually have to lean them, turn them in a little. Last one I bought was from a local lawn mower/small engine repair shop. That may not be the problem though but if you remove it you can usually see a hair line crack in them. If you find a crack but can't find the part then Horizon has them. If the carb was rebuilt there may also be some crud in the screen plugging things up a bit. Go to the gas engine forum and read up on your problem, there may be some better answers. The Zins are easy engines to figure out. Two days ago we had one at the field with a carb problem. The plane had been stored for two years. The carb just required a new diaphragm. A couple of bucks and four screws got it going again.
