Default Steering servo question

I am presently working on a Sig Wonder, and I am putting landing gear on it as I will probably be flying it from an asphalt runway.

Since the plane itself has no rudders I will be using a servo solely for the Nose gear.

What would be the best (And Smallest I can get away with) servo for this application,,Will be using a Spektrum 6C radio. Can Parkflyer sized ones be used since they are small,,and this plane has minimal fuselage room?
What is the formula for servo torque in R/C planes,,is there a graph to use somewhere?

Thanks for any help

Default RE: Steering servo question

I have only one plane with trike gear and I'm using the Hitec HS 81 micro for steering. It works fine, I used throttle cable for the control rod so it will flex on hard landings. It has worked very well except for one landing that was nose wheel first, so much for those gears!! One servo loss out of all the landings I have done isn't bad, it would have killed the gears of any standard servo too.

This calculator is for control surfaces only, but may be helpful:

Will the plane electric powered?
Vibration of combustion engines is what mainly limits for use of very small servos.

Torque-wise you will need almost nothing for that application.
