I use the Du_Bro True Spin Prop Balancer, you can buy them at your LHS or from Tower Hobbies.

When you ballance the prop spray a light coat of Clear Lacquer onto the light side untill it ballance's
Then if you want you can rub it down with Rubbing Compound.After it drys, I would not recomend sanding a wooden prop.

I do as penuts says above but I generally use white or yellow paint instead of clear. This makes the spinning prop(on the plane) a more visible place to keep my fingers away from. I will mask one end of the prop about an inch to inch and a half depending on how out of balance it is. Then spray a light coat, dry and check balance. Then continue to remask and respray until it balances.
