hobbico tiger trainer prop question
picked up a hobbico tiger trainer with a os 40 engine and a bunch of other goodies for 100 bucks and it has a older plastic 10x8 prop on it. would it be ok to put a newer wooden 11x5 prop on it instead?

RE: hobbico tiger trainer prop question
What ever you do, dont run the older plastic prop. They get old a brittle.
The OS 40LA engine really likes a 10x6 prop. That is the sweet spot for that engine. You can try an 11x5 if you have the clearance for the prop.
If you new to RC, then I would recommended a wood prop or Master Airscrew over a APC or an equivalent. When you learning, breaking props is common. Try a couple of Xoar 10x6 on it if you want to run a wood prop.
If the plane is older, and has not been flown recently............
Buy a new fuel tank (their dirt cheap)
Put in ALL new fuel line.
Buy new battery's
Buy a Expanded Volt meter so you can check the battery before each flight.

RE: hobbico tiger trainer prop question
thanks for the help. this is my first nitro plane, have had a few electrics but wanted to get into nitro instead, from what the guy told me the plane hasnt been in the air for 5 years and from the dust collection on it i believe him lol, i happened to turn on the receiver and transmitter and was amazed it still had alittle life left in them. and i grabbed fuel line for another nitro project and will be adding it to this one now to..the props he had on it are master airscrew props but like you mentioned without knowing how old they are i dont want one shattering in my face
