Hi,
Can you ruin a servo by moving it without the batteries or transmitter on? I'm a newbie and I wasn't sure which topic this post should be in so I took a gamble.
Thank you in advance!!!!

RE: Can you ruin a servo by......
I was just moving the servo back as far as it would go and forward as far as it would go without trying to push it past it's boundaries of breaking it so I could see how far and how much room I had for my rudder and elevator.
I take it that does not mess up seros?

Brian,
No damage if you grab the arm of the servo.
If you try doing it by grabbing the control surface that the servo serves, you can bend the connecting rods, loosen anchoring screws of the horns or servo, damage the hinges or break nylon clevises.
That is one of the reasons why full scale airplanes have the control surfaces locked, so they cannot play with the wind and damage the control mechanisms (no servos there, though).
