Default BAttery conversion of my Torqmaster 90 starter FAIL :(

Been wanting to convert my torqmaster into onboard battery. My plan was to use a 3S Lipo. So instead of cutting the cord near the base of the starter and wiring a Deans or XT60 connector I disassembled the starter. Looked pretty simple. Unsodlered the stock wire and soldered two new Black and Red wires. Put the starter back together and now I can't get it to work. Not sure f I ruined it or not. When I squeeze the starter it kinda makes a grinding sound. IT turns but won't free spin like it did before. Pulled apart again and tried reassembling and don't really see where I'm going wrong.

I'm mad at myself for attempting this instead of just cutting the factory wire.

Anyone have a schematic or assembly/disassembly instructions?

I doubt if you ruined it. It sounds as if there is just something in a bind. Can you turn the cone by hand easily, or does it feel like there is some resistance?

Kind of feels like there is a bind or something. I've messed around with this thing for a couple of hours putting it back together several times and it just doesn't seem like it's going back together properly. Searched all over google and can't find anyone else that made the same dumb mistake as me. Wish I would've just clipped the cable.............
