Default What is up with Castle Creations?

Why is castle buying two page ads in the magazines saying thanks for the support. Do they have some kind of problem? I say somewhere that there was some kind of problem with their escs.

My flying partner has electric helicopters. Castle had some issues with some of their esc's and recalled many. The issues seem to be resolved from what I have been told.

Long story short.

Castle buys parts and assembles speed controllers.

At some unknown point, the supplier changed specs of a part that went into said speed controllers.

At that point, some speed controllers (this affected a fairly narrow range of them but hey, if its your helicopter one is too many right) under a certain load, would burst in to flames. Extensive testing at Castle couldnt duplicate the problem yet still guys were having speed controllers burst into flames. The results were not pretty. Castle did lots more testing and finally found the issue and came out with a fix, did lots and lots of testing and no problems. Started distributing them and poof more burst in to flames. Finally the issue was carefully tracked to its cause, the cause corrected and know the speed controllers are fine.

Now...I had some ESC's that were part of the recall that had been running many many flights without issues flying both 3D and scale setups. I've also got a pretty good batch of flights on the post fix esc's with no problems but thats what the ads are about.

I am using a Castle ESC as a voltage regulator for my radios. I have not had any issue's with them and when hooked up to my lipo battery, they provide me with hours of flying. Thanks Dave

I had to send back both of my ESC's. One was being used in my contest plane, a year or so of perfect operation. The other was NIP. It was frustrating to take the brains out of my favorite plane, but Castle replaced it and now I have a new unit.

I will no doubt buy more ESC's from them. Their service is great and their products work very well. It's a shame they had the issue, must have cost them tens of thousands of dollars, but they owned up to it and made it right.
