Default spinners



Hi, im new to this so forgive me if this sounds stupid!
Im will be useing a O.S. 40LA engine with 10x7prop but havent a clue what size spinner i need???

The spinner is determined by the airplane, not the engine.

Some planes you can use a variety of sizes while others need a specific size.

I have a 'flair' cub!
Looking at the nose now it all makes sense!!

Use whatever looks good.

You can find dimensions of spinner cones on some websites (like tru turn, etc.). I find the dimensions of various spinner sizes and shapes and make paper cutouts. Hold up (or tape) to plane and see how you like it.

On the pic above, I probably would do the OD of the ring between the breather holes. On the full-scale planes, there is no ring there, so I'd cover it up with the spinner.

For a Cub like that, I would use a prop nut. The ones on this side of the pond are from Harry Higley. It will give ou a scale look and a starter will still turn it. Make sure you get the doubler if you are useing a 4 cycle. There are also two different matterials used. Some are Alum and some are brass. The brass ones are nice if you need nose weight.
