I usually maintain and fly 2 airplanes and if it's 5 then 3 would be additional and not existing.
1. Skymaster - Xtreme Jet F-18 Hornet
2. CMP Cessna 182 Skylane
3. PZ Icon A5 or light model that can be used for FPV, AV, AP and test plane.
4. F-15, F-16 or another F-18 (not existing)
5. 747 airliner (not existing)

1. Great Planes 1/4 RV4 - my favorite
2. 60 size sport plane or stick
3. Ziroli Skyraider - one of these days
4. Ziroli Corsair - (again) one of these days
5. Parkzone foam Stinson
I could list about a hundred more but I guess we have to stick with 5

ORIGINAL: aa1a
Where are the seaplanes? Mariner? Seamaster? Northstar? You need at least one that makes a splash when it lands (or doesn't land).

RE: If you could only have FIVE airplanes, what would they be?
Choosing from about 20 that I own, I would pick these 5 for reasons of trying to have variety in flight envelopes, range of aerobatic capabilities, different looks, and ability to bring me grins:
CG Ultimate with OS 120 Surpass
H9 Toledo Special with Saito 82a
WM Intruder with OS 91 Surpass II
BH T-28 Trojan with Saito 82a
Pilot Sbach 342 with DLE-30
Like someone said, I would probably answer differently tomorrow. Every weekend my biggest challenge is figuring out what I want to fly. Life is good! Jon

RE: If you could only have FIVE airplanes, what would they be?
Gee, I been around flying for 25 years and I have never had 5 airworthy birds at the same time. Thinking about my 5 must-haves (all gassers):
1) 1/4 scale Cub. No fleet of mine is complete without one.
2) Warbird. Preferably one from the sharp end of the stick that can do great high speed passes, and at least a bit unusual.
3) Scale bipe. Not a modern aerobat, but maybe a Waco or an EAA.
4) Big Stick with trike gear for knocking about and having fun from a hard-surface runway, or windy day.
5) That leaves me room for one more. How 'bout a nice scale twin?
I could enjoy that collection.

RE: If you could only have FIVE airplanes, what would they be?
I have had all sorts of sizes from 1/3 scale to .15 sized planes. From 3 year long built scaled out warbirds to micro flyers. I usually have 15 to 20 planes RTF at any time.
1. Great Planes P-6E Hawk (Electric powered) if I could only have one.
2. Some kind of 40 or 60 sized trainer to use as a test vehicle for projects (Electric powered)
3., 4. and 5. would be a warbird and the type and size would depend on the exact moment this question was asked. (Electric powered)

RE: If you could only have FIVE airplanes, what would they be?
I have a combination of 11 active planes and jets that I currently fly, with 3 more BVM jets and a twin Beech Baron that are completed and ready to maiden when the weather and winds are ideal. I also have another 5 jet kits and 4 plane kits that are still in the box, and have been that way for 3~5 years.
I can't imagine how I could ever have less than that.
Five??? Ridiculous!!!!
