water based acrylic lacquer

RE: water based acrylic lacquer
great for plastic models.. glow powered planes,, will melt right off. Search the web for rc painting. I've read about clear poly sanding sealer, then water based enamel, then fuel proof clear like Nelsons clear. Also try research on automotive paints. If it doesn't say fuel proof on the can, i would not risk it. I understand some guys wanting to try different paints. Fuel proof paints are quite expensive, however what isn't. Hope this helps... Joe.

People are using the two part auto clear coat, Lusterkote clear is fuel proof but it does yellow. I like the Klass Kote two part epoxy but plan on giving Nelsons water based clear a try real soon. I'm very lazy and hate cleaning my guns after use and water based is very easy to clean.

I'm sold on System Three WR-LPU Topcoat with cross-linker,, http://www.systemthree.com/store/pc/...opcoat-c29.htm
Affordable in the 4oz sample size and plenty for a 60 size plane,, I did my kingfisher and only took about 2oz to cover the whole plane.

I needed a bit or red to touch up the cowl on my CAP. I went to Hoby Lobby (crafdt store) and bought some cheap arcrlic craft paint. A 4 oz bottle was 99 cents. I clear coated it with a house brand automotive urethane clear. No reaction between the two. I even brushed the urethane on as it was the ring behind the spinner. I plan to use the same on a complete project next time around. I've been flying the crap out of the plane all summer as it is my only flyable plane for the moment.
The house brand urethane was reasonable price and it sprays very nice.
