Flying Field Weather Station/Webcam
A few of us at our flying field were talking about the feasibility of an internet-accessible field weather station and webcam. The idea would be that any club member could get onto a password-protected section of the club website and see wind speed/direction as well as a view of the field, to see the weather and how many people are flying at the time. Our flying site has only 12 volt power, but the field is overlooked by buildings owned by one of our members. These buildings have 110 volt power and could potentially be hooked up to the internet. We have not discussed this with him, so no idea if he would be OK with it. Having a password required for access would hopefully address any security concerns with the webcam.
Has anyone done this? If so, can you give details of the install and how it is set up?
Thanks,
David

Contact Tomcat Field in Calif. and ask how they have there set up. It's not pass word protected and you can go look at any time. The camera is set up to view the pit area so you can see who is there too. They could have expanded the system sense the last time I looked too.

Thanks Graybeard. I found the website, Santa Clara County. Nice setup. Looks like they shoot a still picture every 5 minutes for the webcams. I have e mailed the webmaster and hope to get some info on their setup.
