Is RC universe schemeing on me?, Where is the complaint Dept?
I really enjoy RC Universe, BUT there are some things I don't get, or maybe agree with. The first is, What was wrong with the way the old site worked, Everytime I start learning my way around a site like this one, they have to change everything on the site and I have to start all over, I think my exwife had something to do with it, she knows I have "Old Timers" disease and I am easy to confuse. At any rate she won't win, I will learn how to use it. I just hope she can't infuence anyone at the top to change it again.
I REALLY do wish there was a tips and tech on covering here along with info on the different types, I think it would help or to inspire some people to try new things or different things. A while back I was asking questions about fabric covereing and I think it was greybeard that really shed some light also while taling about it here, someone mentioned the Alphatic Glues... Will all old methods be lost to iron on coverings and cyno glues or ARF's?
I have nothing against Arfs, They have some great looking airplanes I have been thinking about buying one for myself. I have nothing against the new methods of doing things, It's just I don't want to see the ways of old dissapear and one has to admit, masterpieces have been built with the old methods as well as the new methods

If it was not for continuing change, what would be the purpose of a Site Master Ghuru":-)))))))))))))))))))))))))) It has created a job:-))))))))
And and having been there, writing software is addictive. "If I had just one line of code, look how great it would be". OH, I forgot that one line of code shifted other lines out of sequence, and screwed everything up:-)))))))))

Thing of the old site in auto terms it was rusty worn out and spares were unavailable. A model T Ford fitted with a Nissan V6 coupled to an Alison truck transmission and a different size wheel on each corner.
Sure it ran.
But never for long without something breaking and it just could not keep up with modern traffic. It has received an honorable burial.
Re the covering. The old search routine sucked donkey breath. Try the new one. Or pose a question Maybe in beginners rather than Tips. List all the points you are looking for info on.There is a wealth of experience here to tap into. For instance I have covered CL combat models with ladies stocking and wet tissue using dope to seal it. Cheaper and lighter than nylon plus dope and strong enough.
Try a search for "nylon covering" use the quotation marks.

don't forget we DO have a magazine here at rcu too
here are two tutorials on covering I helped out with... (although they mostly deal with iron on coverings)
http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...?article_id=67
http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=726
there is also a great couple of articles at easybuiltmodels on covering with tissue ... many can be adapted to silk and dope / nylon /
(I'm in the process of converting a couple of tissue and dope free flight airplanes to indoor electric )
http://www.easybuiltmodels.com/tips.htm
and a good thread also dealing with silk and dope
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gold...echniques.html
hope this helps!
