Question fitting second onboard battery

I have a new 120 4st AT-6 Texan that has machinicel retracts and the high torque servo draws a lot of power , i have upgraded the flight batery system to 6v but i am still concerned that if the retract servo binds then it could drain the flight battery , I would like to power the retracts using a seperate batter but i am unsure as to how to hook it up to the RX etc

This is the very simple solution and completly isolates the second battery for the landing gear only. Look at this standard Y harness carefully The male plug that plugs into the Receiver retract channel has the Red positive conductor snipped so only the sense and the ground leads are plugged into the Rx.

The second battery for only the retract servo is plugged through a second switch into one of the two leads of the Y. The retract servo is plugged into the other branch of the Y. Now the servo can only use power from the second dedicated retract battery and the sense lead and ground lead is all that needs to be plugged into the Rx to control the retract function.
