Balsarite for film
I live in the Republic of Kalifornia, it was determined that Balsarite for film was a fantastic product, so it is now banned here because it worked to dang well. Made the other products feel inferior, so to make it an even playing field, it is no longer sold.
I am looking for a substitute for it. I used some Sig Stik-it thinned, but never found a good thinner that did not turn it into jelly.
Am I just out of luck? I do not really want to take a several hundred mile trip to a hobby shop in Arizona or Nevada.
Buzz.

With trying to find MEK, we go back to the Republic of Kalifornia. I think the best I can find now is Acetone. All the good stuff seems to have been removed from the shelves. I may try an automotive paint store to see what they carry?

MEK is some nasty stuff. Very flammable. Absorbs through the skin. The vapors can kill you.
in the mid and late 70's MEK was was easy to come by in aviation, but after the effects were known it's hard to come by.
i know one guy whose house burned down because he was using MEK as a cleaner.
i recommended using anything but MEK.

MEK we called it pink lemon aid when I was working at Generous Dynamics. It had this slight pink color to it. We had to go through hazmat training to use it. With out the proper gloves, it went into the blood stream straight to your liver. After that they had us use 111 trychlorithane (sp). Was suppose to be safer. Not any chemical we used was safe.
Why do I use balsarite, simple, it make all iron on covering work better. Also fuel proofs and seals the structure. I have used pretty much every covering out there over the years. I did like original Ultra coat, man you could blast the heat to it, but it was heavy. Last roll of Ultra coat / Ora cover would not stick to anything, even itself. I like how the Super coverite and 21st goes on, but is pretty soft. I have used the cheap coats, Tower, Flite, China.
If nothing else, Balsasrite is the best thing to use to eliminate dust.
