Default How to lengthen aileron

Now that I have extended my wing by about 4 inches each side , I need to extend the ailerons on each side by same amount rather than build new ailerons .

Besides gluing the short piece of extension aileron to the original , is adding a piece of ply or CF bridging the main aileron and the additional aileron good enough ? I will inset the bridge piece so i'ts flush with the aileron surface for looks. There will be one CA hinge in the extension aileron since its slightly less than 4 inches long.

Any other simple way?

A 3 to 1 scarf joint would be how I would do this. One hinge is fine.

Good idea . Should I pin the joint with small dowel?

My first airplane was a kit.....my new puppy got the end of my aileron. I cut off the damage, cut a length from aileron stock drilled a hole for a tooth pick dowel and glued it together. Worked great.

With a 3-1 scarf joint and only a few inches the dowel isn't really needed but if it bothers you then placing a biscuit between the two pieces is even better. A biscuit joint is very strong and easier.

I need to find a simple way because the aileron ends 1/2 inch inside of the wing tip. So I need to slide and glue the extension aileron into place and engaging the CA hinge at the same time. Perhaps a simple scarf joint is easiest. 3-1 is pretty long scarf joint.
