Default Name this Corsair

I've been told by the prior owner that this is a Top Flite Corsair but the fiberglass fuselage is throwing me off. Anyone else have this Corsair? 56" wingspan.

I'm waiting to hear back from CMP. Nitro planes and Top Flite says it's not theirs. I don't know about Hangsar 9 yet. I also realized the belly pan was missing. The previous owner apparently doesn't have it anymore. :-(. Not sure how I'm going to fix that issue.

It's not a Hangar 9, they didn't have one with a fibreglass fuelage. I don't think it is a CMP either, they have 58" wing span. It could be a Kyosho, Jet Tech, or a BMI, they all have a fibreglass fuselage with wing span of 56 inches.

Roger. Do you know if any of those are available from Nitro Planes or Tower Hobbies?

The previous owner is certain he would have bought it from Tower, Nitro or maybe Banana Hobby. CMP seems to be the best lead but just got a response and they said its not theirs. This mystery may never be solved. This model is from a few years ago do I'm thinking production change and it would take the person who responded to me to have to be from that time frame and familiar with the model.

I do remember seeing a Corsair of that size a few years back that had a blue & White checkerboard rudder. When I have time I will do a search and see if I can find the photo and report back with my findings.

Sideoftheroad, I am 99% sure this is the Corsair that you have, even though the cowl on this one is not yellow. Different distributors have the tendency to change paint schemes and lettering on the same model As far as I know this model of Corsair is no longer in production

Here is a link that may provide more info. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1684613

Should the fuselage be measured with or without the cowl? Without the cowl I got 39 3/4" by measuring end of tail to firewall.

Fuselage is measured with cowl installed.

Providing the cowl was installed correctly, I got approximately 43 3/8" with cowl. I mention provided it was installed correctly because I have seen wood blocks on the end of the firewall the cowl screws go into but this does not have that. The screws goes straight into the fiberglass fuselage. Not sure if that is unusual or not. Also since I was in a somewhat dark garage this morning measuring I was using a flash light to help line up the screw holes I noticed the cowl was a lighter blue than the fuselage. The cowl does have some damage so it was probably repainted.

With your measurements that means the cowl you have is only 3 5/8" in length which is way to short for a cowl on this size corsair. Look at the length of the cowl in the photo I provided and compare it to the length of the cowl you have. Google other .50 size Corsairs and see the length of those cowls compared to the one you have. Even the foam Corsair I have that has a 44" inch wing span has a cowl that is 4 1/8" in length. The photo shows the length of the cowl on this .50 Corsair, the plane is the same size as your Corsair.

Take clear photos of your Corsair with the cowl installed and post them so we get get a looksie at what you actually have.

It's certainly longer than that. lol. When I get home I'll measure the cowl length which will tell you how far back the cowl sits from the edge. I'll also try and get some clear pics.

Took measurements again and here is what I came up with. Let me know if you need any other pics too
39 1/2" fuselage
6 7/16" cowl
43 1/4" cowl/fuselage
2 11/16" cowl over fuselage
3 3/4" past firewall

The length of the engine installed determines how much of the cowl is set back over the fuselage. You have the Corsair that is pictured in post #12 above.

The fuselage length is off by like 4" even if the edge of the cowl is butted up against the edge of the firewall but it still seems like a possibility to me. The one I have also had those 2 little squares in the wing. Anyone know what those are for? Suggestions on how to make a belly pan?

What squares are you referring to? Unless you are referring to the two radiators, one on each wing leading edge between the LH & RH landing gear and the fuselage?

Here is a link to the H9 Corsair 50 instructional manual that maybe of help to you. http://www.hangar-9.com/ProdInfo/Fil...590-Manual.pdf

Here is another link to the H9 Corsair 50, it retails for $ 314.99 and now it lists the price at $99.99, it must be a mistake selling it at this bargain basement price? http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Sup...ProdID=HAN2590

Sorry. Better explanation of the squares would have been helpful. I followed the RC groups link and someone posted this pic. http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...2-IMG_5302.jpg

My guess is they are getting ready to discontinue it like they did the H9 P40 B Warhawk 50.

Follow this link. You will see upper right hand corner of the picture. It says Disc. It's already discontinued. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...Page-_-HAN2590

The P40B has been out of production for a couple years now but it still says $99. http://hangar-9.com/Products/Default...ProdID=HAN2595

I believe the hatches allow access to attach and secure the outer wing panels to the center wing section. I guess the H9 50 Corsair is being replaced with the recently announced new H9 20cc Corsair.
