I use this
http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/...tective-finish
and this
http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/produc...eze-kote-500ml
The EZE Kote I use to seal the wood only, and use the Minwax to apply the glass and finish layers. EZE Kote is fuel resistant so you wont get delamination from internal fuel spills, while your paint protects the Minwax on the outside.

Minwax Polycrylic is most commonly used. http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/...tective-finish
On my last glassing job I used Minwax Polyurethane. http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/...g-polyurethane It works well, is fuel resistant, and has no tendency to warp thinner sheeting.

Still needs markings, but had to put her on her feet and take a look,,,
p.s.
Paint total quesstimation
I was looking at the Behr paint, they are actually 7.5 OZ cans, After finishing this, both the green and orange are just under half full, so I'd guess I used no more than 8oz of the flat paint. About 2oz of the ceiling paint flat white under the orange, Maybe about 2 oz of the satin clear, ooh, cowl is Rattle can flat black, with satin clear
