On my big gasser, I did the same but I used a PowerBacker from Electrodynamics. The circuit selects the higher of the 2 voltages and feeds that into the receiver. That way, if one of the batteries shorts out, the good battery is not pulled low.

Actually, I've already ordered another from Tower Hobbies --- the new one will be a TriStar.

Dave, you need to take this to RunRyder for an answer.

The crashed heli was a Trex 600 esp with a flybarless conversion, align esc setup for 6 cells power, a separate 2 cell 4400 mah Thunderpower lipo regular down to 6 volts using a Castle bec to power the AR 7200 bx flybarless unit/receiver. Tx was a JR 12x. All batteries were fully charged and ready. Also, this heli had been flown with this setup at least 15 times without issue. But on this particular flight, the heli lifted off the ground, remained in a hover for about 15 to 20 second before I made the first turn. About midway into the turn, the heli rolled upside down, and remained in the inverted position for about 3 seconds before slamming to the ground. By the way, I had no control of the heli once I made the initial turn.

The second heli was a Trex 600 dfc pro with the Helicommand Xtreme flybarless unit with two JR dsm2 sat receivers attached. This is a 12 cells setup, with a Castle 120amp esc, the Align bec with a 2cell Thunderpower 2100mah pack for receiver power. The flight with this heli occurred later in the day once the crowd of flyers had left the flying site. About 1 and 1/2 minutes into this flight, there seemed to have been some abrupt movement in the swashplate as the heli rock violently and headed for the ground. I was able to regain control of this machine to land it without any damage. Needless to say, I was done with helis for the day.

Now the only common link for both helis was the Tx ( JR 12x ), both helis had different control units and battery packs. But the puzzling part of this entire situation, is that I flew a fixed wing plane with the same Tx before and after both events with helis without a single issue. So I am curious to know what others might think.

The comments that slow binding can mean a bad tx or rx ... does someone have some data to back that up with? In my experience binding can be slow if you have the tx too close to the rx. Some of my planes are worse about that than others ... especially those with multiple satellites like an AR 9110.

If the servo is not stripped, then something is changing the end points. Was it both throttle servo's or only one of them? Dave

DavidAgar, neither of the throttle servos appears to be stripped. Only one servo was affected.

bill4719, I'll be using three OS 25LA.

The best thing to do is send in TX and the RX to Horizon Hobbies for a complete tune up They do a great job there and also tell them about your flight and binding problem...

Its better to have piece of mind Than trying to guess at it!!! Good Luck.....

How did you have your throttle servos tied together. Y Harness or radio mixing ?

That might be the Transmitter telling the receiver something or the receiver just making decisions on it's own. I think the best thing to do is send it in and have it checked out. Good Luck, once again, Dave
