Bingo...The bearings tended to go on the 160 within the first couple 100 flights. Just make sure you seat the new set and ring the case a few times before turning it over. A couple drops of Mobil 1 in the bearings also helps longevity

Don't see anywhere where you are using a pressure pump. Maybe all the above may fix your problems. But especially if you are running a Pitts muffler. Pitts do not have the line pressure to give the engine adequate fuel supply. Especially when the fuel level drops down it is harder and harder for the engine to get adequate fuel to keep it running without a pump. My experience is if you are not using a stock muffler to run a pump.. Just my experience.

I'm getting a pump, all though never needed one before, and the muffler is stock. The fuel line is long enough, and I run a double clunk system always have.

I had a 160 0n a texas rc stik with stock muffler. Got tired of dead stick landing after a few minutes of flight. Installed a Perry pump and never had another outage again...
Think saw where you had it on a Yak.. They don't like to dead stick...Lucky you still have your plane intact.. Happy flying......

RE: 0s 160 cook book
I found the article of the OS conversion that Mr. Lowe did. I've done it myself and it works great.

B Day actually the Yak dead sticks just fine, done it 4 times now in 2 days lol. Now I don't like doing it because it is the nicest plane I have ever had, and if the engine flames on any plane at a bad time the end results can be less than desired.

Very true. Some guys handle dead sticks better then others. Before getting into scale aerobatics I was deep into sailplanes. That experience helps greatly when the occasional deadstick happens. Airplane setup is a factor as well, too forward of a CG and you are coming down much faster.

If the banjo fitting on the high-speed needle valve housing is loose, the engine will run erratically. It is too loose if you can rotate it with your fingertip.

I believe I read that you are using the stock OS 1.60 muffler. In that case you should not need a pump. I’m using the Perry VP-30 pump on three 1.60 powered planes that have the Bisson Pitts style muffler and I didn’t want to crimp the exhaust tubes and restrict the engine’s breathing. Also, the fuel tanks are positioned rearward near the C.G. This setup has been totally reliable for years and the pumps have never been adjusted.
I hope your problems disappear if you decide to use a pump.

Dose the Perry Pump come with all the fittings or do I have to buy special fittings for the engine?

The Perry VP-30 pump comes with a piece of pressure line and a tiny pressure nipple. The nipple is installed by drilling and tapping a hole in the crankcase cover. Nothing else is needed except for a piece of tape to wrap around the pump body to make it fit snuggly in the provided mounting clamp.
I have never used that tiny nipple because of past durability issues with drilled and threaded thin wall aluminum. It may be slightly more complicated but I prefer to install the OS 1.40 EFI pressure fitting in the crankcase cover upper left bolt hole.
