Default Fly RC Magazine

Sorry if this isn't the right category for this ------------
Can anyone tell me what is going on with the Fly RC magazine ? I have been ill for some time and have just recently realized that I haven't received a new issue of Fly RC for over 4 months and my subscription is paid until 2019 . Calling on the phone gets me a busy signal at anytime during a 24 hour period including Saturday and Sunday .A check of their web page shows that the are still soliciting input to their managing editor , but also advises that the web page has a new owner and that they will answer no questions re: subscriptions and will destroy all new subscription payments.Additionally , an instruction to contact someone regarding subscriptions has been double lined out although still remaining shown .

Does any one have any info on this , or am I the only one with this problem ? I guess this could just be another mag down the drain like the last one some years back and again ,for me and others ,we get to suck up our loss of monies paid in good faith .

Given the post on the web page I would say you're not the only one.

Maplegate Media, the publishers of Fly RC, RC Heli Pilot, and several other print mag's went out of business, closed their doors, email, and phones and essentially scattered to the wind.

A couple of the folks that worked there as employees bought the name and plan on continuing an online presence on their facebook and web feed. They aren't printing or in the short term planning on printing a magazine, and they aren't responsible for the subs, they merely purchased the name.

Personally I feel bad about the subscriptions, I wrote for Fly RC for several years and connected with the readers both in email and at events like IRCHA and Joe Nall. When the whole thing went down the indication was that they were going to try to make good on the unresolved subscriptions but as of yet that has yet to happen.

What is the cover date on the last issue? The last issue that I received is dated Feb 2017, and until now I didn't realize that they had stopped coming!

My last issue is April, 2017. Four issues more until end of my subscription. So not too much of a loss. On another forum, some members had just renewed

Andy------Thanks for letting me know what happened .I thought some time ago that something might not be right .It seemed that the magazine was progressively getting thinner by the month and that 70/80 % of the articles were being generated by one person . Sorry to see another RC mag bite the dust but it has happened before and could always happen again .

Thanks again and much good flying to you -----------------

Drib77, After checking closer (and jogging my memory) I determined that my subscription ran out with the Feb 2017 issue and I now remember not renewing due to the reduction in page count and the focus on RTF electric planes. I had also noticed that they had gone to a cheaper newsprint type paper instead of slick higher grade paper. This time I really "lucked out" as I have been burned in the past with both RC mags and racing mags that went belly up on me. Just dumb luck that I dumped them before they dumped on us.

Let me tell you, that cheap paper annoyed several of who's nice 20 megapixel pictures were being reduced to something printed on a cat food box.
