Default Question about Wren Turbo jet kit

Good Morning

I just joined this forum to get some information on a Turbo Jet kit.

I found a Wren Turbines Limited MW54 MK3 Turbo-Jet Kit. It brand new in the original packaging and has never been assembled. I have the Assembly manual, Parts Kit checklist, Turbine Wheel Quality Certificate, Fadec Auto start kit and manual, and even some tools and stickers that came with the kit.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!

First the good news. What you have builds into a useable gas turbine in a days work producing about 14 lbs thrust. I believe the mk 3 was one of the later ones. The box you have cost about 1800 $ It has significant value even as spares as there are a lot of the old Wren 54s still in use.

Not so good news This is from the Wren web site

Homebuilders

Supplies for homebuilds from the Wren plans are now exhausted.

The designs in the plans are over 14 years old - design & technology has moved on so far/fast that current engine parts are not compatible with those from the plans.
You should get at least $ 500 and maybe as much as $800 providing everything is there and untouched.

Hello j duncker. Thank you for the info. Everything is untouched. Is the 500-800 including the Fadec? It is a quite interesting kit! I found a youtube video of one of these engines being fired up. Holy cow! You would never guess looking at it in the box what it is capable of.

Yes that would include the Fadec. It is pre programmed with data needed for that particular turbine.

Thank you for the information. I am deciding whether to make it a project and build it with my daughter or sell it and buy another BMX bike. I can only imagine the thrill of starting that thing up for the first time.
