AM is really old. It didn't work super well when it was new, and if you have an 80's era radio you can probably expect problems. Consider buying something new so you can trust your equipment.

I used an AM radio on a trainer up until a few years ago. It worked fine- never had any problems. But Jester is right, radios are not that expensive these days so you'd be better off buying a new one.

I suspect that he is talking about an AM frequency module as used in some early Futaba gold case transmitters. But Jamie the fellows are right this is very a dead end road to pursue If I understand correctly.

Yep, sounds like an old wide band AM module for the Futaba FG series. Unclear whether he is looking to change frequency and still stay with AM (which would be wide band, and therefore illegal here in the States), or if he is hoping to go FM/2.4. Which would be a task requiring lots of electronics knowledge and tools - a fools errand, given the original TX was an economy system to begin with. And arguably might move it into the grand debate about what a "legal" type acceptance by the FCC would constitute. E-bay seems to have some, going for about $30. At that cost, one is over 1/3rd the way to getting a Taranis X9 Lite with receiver.
