Default Computer Radios

What is the idea of End Point Adjustment, if I sometimes pass its percentage when

programing dual rates?

If the radio has D\R then why EPA is needed ?

End point adj is nice if your servo has too much throw and it is binding, you can change the end point back some so the servo won't bind, or add to it if you want more throw. It is a nice feature.

It is also useful in setting the throttle max and min positions.

Your D/R are the percentage of the EPAs programmed for each channel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can get any more throw than the EPA's you program by using Dual Rates. In other words, D/R don't go higher than 100%.

EPAs could be used to set up your radio so that there is no mechanical binding in the linkages.

Then set up the D/R to suit your flying style in different conditions. Since the D/R are switchable, they can be switched back and forth during your flight.

All of this is controllable from the radio, and you don't have to revisit the linkages.

Also know that HiTec radios EPA's range +/-125% for +/- 60 deg.

My 9C's DRs go up to 140%, I think my old HiTec Eclipse went to 120%.
THe 9C's EPA range is also 140%.

The dual rate option and end point adjustment do provide some overlap of capability. They both effect how much the servo moves for a full stick deflection. Generally, people use EPA to limit the servo travel to avoid binding of the linkage. Then dual rate is used to reduce sensitivity from the maximum. Doing it this way is more important when you have mixes where one stick effects multiple channels.

If you max out both the EPA and dual rate, it's possible you could drive the servo past it's design limit. Also, because the servo output is rotary, you don't get much additional pushrod movement by increasing EPA beyound 100%.

What I do is set up my high rates with EPA and set my high rate DR at 100%, then for low rate I go down from 100. This prevents over deflecting the control surface.
