Best way to polish a canopy??
I have a Top Flite Mustang canopy that is sort of cloudy. You can tell that the drawing process cause this, because it has a streaking effect from top to bottom in the direction it was pulled. I have tried plexiglas polish with virtually no effect at all. Any other ideas?

Can you send it back to TF, or is it installed? Sometimes a mild car rubbing compound will clear up minor scratches, but if it happened in the forming process I doubt if it will come out.

Sometimes ordinary toothpaste will work if the problem wasn't created in the manufacturing process. Very soft cloth or Kleenex recommended. Do not use a paper towel.

It's not that difficult to polish back to better than new. You'll need various grades of wet or dry paper and a polishing kit they make for motorcycle windscreens.
First, sand out all the scratches with the most appropriate paper. At this point you've scratched the thing all to hell. Don't worry about it. Go to the next finer grade and remove all the scratches from the last grade. Keep doing this until you've gotten to 1200 grit paper.
While you're sanding, use plenty of warm water and soap to keep particles from putting new scratches in the canopy.
Now just follow the directions that came with the polishing kit and you'll have a sparkling clear canopy.
If you can't find a kit locally, I know Micro-Mark sells one.

Not that it will help your particular streaking problem, I have found a couple automotive plastic lens cleaners/polishes that work for removing the scratches from age and cleaning etc. 3M has some, and I believe Mother's and McGuires have similar products.

Forget the sandpaper unless you want to screw it up and waste time! Get some Simichrome polishing compound and cotton facial puffs. It will clear up the plastic without removing any material, real fast and easy. Try it on your wife's ring you will be very impressed. It comes in a yellow tube with brown lettering. You can get it at some jewlers, auto shows or look up gesswien.com, they have it for sure. I use it to finish polish the mold dies that make seran wrap, and other super finished molds.
If you have other questions pm me and I will discuss other options.

I agree with using simichrome. it do really do the number on your canopy. and it will make all your aluminum shine like there is no tomorrow (aluminum spinners, landing gear, cabanes, etc.....). but it's easier to find than going to an auto show. most every motorcycle shop sells it.
