Default hinge slot cutter

Just wondered if there is a good hinge slot tool out there, other than the Great Planes electric tool? Do not mind a manual tool if it does a good job, have trouble getting those CA hinges to go in slot without bunching up. Flipstart

The Dubro Hinge Forks work very well. Look down toward the end of this page:

I still use the DuBro centering tool to set the mark for the hinges - then use the GP hinge tool.

I use the hinge forks as well, along with the little "hooked" blade for picking out the pieces of wood. Works quite well.

Many swear by the electric hinge slotting tool though.

Solve all of your hinge slotting problems with the wonderful Higley tool at http://members.aol.com/harryhig/MainMenu.htm
It is a sophisticated precision device compared to the DuBro which is like a shovel.

I like the GP slotter. I use it for all hinges, and if I am using the huge one, go at it with the dubro forks after the hinge slotter. Makes it easier.

I used my Dremel with round cut wheel bit. Drew my centerlines and cut each hinge slot with ease. No digging. If you need to widen the slot more just move the wheel back and forth in the slot or open it a bit with a razor after cutting the slot with the wheel. Hinged all my surfaces including flaps with Dubro and pins. Works great.
