How strong are they really?
Can those little paper hinges keep the control surfaces on the plane? to me it seems like they would tear or come out, especially with fast hi torque servos it seems more likely. don't they have like hinges made of two pieces half the size of the paper ones and connected with an actual "hinge" it just doesn't seem to me like they are to sturdy or strong

RE: How strong are they really?
If you're talking about "CA" hinges (originated by Sig as Easyhinges) they're strong enough when properly installed to tear the wood that they're glued to out of the airplane. In other words, strong enough. For higher load applications use more of 'em.

They are not paper, they are plastic with a fiberous coating. One of the most important things about them is proper installation. Have a look at this before installing:

They are not "paper", but mylar which will last longer than you will. (G) Have you ever tried to remove one that has been properly installed? You can't pull them out. What you are calling paper is the fuzzy outer layer which is intended to wick the adhesive inside the slot.

If you were able to tear one in half, you have one h*ll of a grip. Now I guess you could put it in a vise and pull with pliers, but I can't tear one with just my hands. Maybe trying to tear phone books in half would help.

I did have a problem with them in my UcanDo .46 The fiber surface seperated from the plastic in the middle. I replaced them all with dubro hinges. Never have to worry again. But i know some guy swho swear by them.
