I need an airplane rack system for my van
I have a Chevy Venture:
http://www.chevrolet.com/venture/
I need a rack design, removable, for holding electrics and gliders. Anyone have any ideas, or a source for plans or a finished racking system for my planes? I was thinking of making something out of PVC pipe when it occurred to me that one of you guys might have something figured out already.
I would like to be able to carry three gliders - one or two 2 Meter ( one or two piece wing ) and one or two 3 Meter (2 or 3 piece wing)
In would also like to carry three electrics - under 42" wingspans.
And, of course there is the field box, charger ports and stuff. You guys know about stuff.
So, anyone got any plans? Sources for plans? Sources for racks? Any ideas?
Come on guys, one of you must have this figured out already.

I'd go with a PVC rack of your own design. I made a simple two level rack to fit in the back of my 4 Runner and love that fact that I can now take advantage of the height of that area.

I have a Venture van. What I did was to run two bungee cords from the clothes hangers in the rear. Then I drilled one hole in the plastic on each side about 2/3 of the way toward the rear of the door and ran 2 more bungee cords. I slide the wings between the bungee cords and use clip closepins to keep the wing from shifting. Holds 2 wings and (after removing the 3rd row of seats) I have plenty of room for two glo planes and the tote box. Hope this is of some help.

AEAJR I would make totes out of 1/2 or 3/4" pVC piping. Just use "T'S" and elbows for the body. Cover the frame where the plane parts touch with pipe insulation. I would make carriers to fit the planes as necessary. If your seats fold down you are in business. Just make up your carriers and put them on the folded down seats. friction from the pipe insulation and the fabric of the seats should keep them in place.

You can also put a machine screw in the ends of PVC so you can screw it agains the window. Put rubber on the head, like a cap, and let it sit on the window sil and back the screw out to hold it. Works well too. The PVC racks work really well. In my truck, I use 2X2s across the rails on the topper held on with C clamps, but that wouldn't work so well in your van. There are lots of good ideas. Good luck
