is it cause not everyone can with out a license or??
I'm sure one good reason is to escape congestion at the field, especially at a busy one. My main reasons are as follows:
1. No more shift incompatibility problem.
2. I can work on my radio without the FCC (and those who constant remind me of FCC rules) getting on my case.

The straw that broke the camels back was the day I hauled a 26 .lb airplane, a 20 pound EZ UP two comfortable folding chairs and a thirty pound field box along wioth a small cooler for a few cold drinks , to a contest and found no less than three other pilots on the same frequency. I only got to fly once due to terrible frequency control. And that was'nt the first time it happened, but it was the last. I now fly 6meters. Nuff said. Widgeon.

Yes, it's worth the trouble...
It's a wonderful feeling to know that it is unlikely that someone will shoot you down.
Remember I said "unlikely"......
