is it cause not everyone can with out a license or??
Getting a ham ticket to operate on 6m is easier than ever.I'm sure one good reason is to escape congestion at the field, especially at a busy one. My main reasons are as follows:
1. No more shift incompatibility problem.
2. I can work on my radio without the FCC (and those who constant remind me of FCC rules
) getting on my case.

The straw that broke the camels back was the day I hauled a 26 .lb airplane, a 20 pound EZ UP two comfortable folding chairs and a thirty pound field box along wioth a small cooler for a few cold drinks , to a contest and found no less than three other pilots on the same frequency. I only got to fly once due to terrible frequency control. And that was'nt the first time it happened, but it was the last. I now fly 6meters. Nuff said. Widgeon.

Yes, it's worth the trouble...
It's a wonderful feeling to know that it is unlikely that someone will shoot you down.
